Apprenticeship: The job interview
During my search for apprenticeships, I came across the apprenticeship program at F7 on the IHK website. After briefly researching the company and a little more detailed research into what BetaCodex actually means, it was clear to me that I would like to get to know F7 and my contacts in Team Voyager personally.
Fast response
What I would like to emphasise positively is the quick response. After two days, I already had it in my mailbox, in contrast to much larger companies, where you often wait over a month for a response, and sometimes in vain. With such companies, the human touch often falls by the wayside, which only causes more frustration in the already difficult topics of finding an apprenticeship and career guidance. It was therefore very nice to have a different experience here. In his email, Simon had suggested two dates for me to meet him in person, one with the additional comment ‘That's a long time away, but our team would be complete by then’. I don't know where I got the confidence to go for an interview with five people, or whether I even realised it at the time, but I did.
The job interview
Three weeks later, the time has come: I enter the offices of my future employer for the first time. I was warmly welcomed at the door by Myrielle, who accompanied me into the conference room, where she tried to keep me happy with small talk until the rest of the team gradually arrived. Overall, I was surprisingly relaxed, probably not least because I was so well looked after. In terms of content, the interview was less about what previous knowledge and skills I would start with and more about getting to know me as a person, seeing how motivated I am, whether I would fit into the team and, last but not least, getting an idea of whether it would be a good fit for me.
Immediately after the interview, I received positive feedback that they had a good feeling about me and that I could start as an apprentice at F7 if I wanted to. I gave myself another two days to think about it, but as my already very positive feeling hadn't changed, I accepted.
