TYPO3 Dev Days 2025 - What. A. Ride!
The TYPO3 Developer Days 2025 are over, and what can I say—I'm truly overwhelmed! The Dev Days are a must-attend event every year, but this year's fireworks were extraordinary in my opinion!
This year's conference was steeped in the 8-bit world of my youth, and I felt right at home from the very first minute (as you can perhaps guess from the illustrations accompanying this blog post).
The keynote speech by Benni Mack and Benji Kott already provided the first very positive surprise: an incredible number of participants were attending for the very first time, significantly rejuvenating the event. This is so important and great to see, both for Dev Days and for the TYPO3 community as a whole.
I have never had so many good conversations with participants I didn't know before as I did this year. Networking and conversations outside of technical topics are always a reason to attend Dev Days, and this year it worked out really well. I love it!
The talks were of consistently high quality, and I was glad to have colleagues from F7 by my side so that we could split up and attend the parallel sessions. I would particularly like to highlight the talks by Benni Mack on the Schema API and by Christian Kohn on refactoring the TYPO3 DataHandler. Not only were these talks (as expected) of excellent technical depth, but they were also presented in a very engaging and humorous manner and, in my opinion, were strong contenders for the Best Talk Award. In the end, “Return to Kong Mountain” won, which I unfortunately missed and will watch again in the stream afterwards.
On Friday, I had the privilege of conducting the TYPO3 certifications and was once again thrilled: 48 participants, 4 of whom decided to take the exam at very short notice, is extraordinary! 31 of them (64%) passed the exam and can now call themselves TYPO3 CMS Certified Editor, Integrator, Developer, or Consultant: Congratulations!
During the evening activities, I had the honor of competing for the bowling championship in a team with Florian Fraudevaux, Georg Ringer, and Robin K... It was great fun, especially because we all felt the same competitive spirit and wanted to win the trophy. In the end, it was a very close final, in which we narrowly lost and were happy to come in second place. Once again, congratulations to our opponents in the final and many thanks to Luisa and Myrna, who contributed to the success as great hosts and referees, and to Mittwald for sponsoring the bowling night and the prizes (the power bank is great! :) )

But this year, too, the weather in Karlsruhe was sunny and hot, which of course benefited the event and the atmosphere.
I have participated in numerous TYPO3 Developer Days in recent years, but I enjoyed this year's event exceptionally well—many thanks to all the organizers, speakers, helping hands, sponsors, and participants who made it possible.
Now, unfortunately, it's time to leave this 8-bit adventure behind. But – get your calendars out! The date for Developer Days 2026 has been set, and it will take place again in Karlsruhe from August 6-8, 2026. I'll be there.
