The LIV was looking for a modern, high-performance platform that would enable efficient administration and simplified searching via a central knowledge pool. The focus here concentrated on a flexible, intuitive and accessible solution that offers seamless interface integration, simplifies the maintenance of publication and contact data records and fulfils the function of a central communication platform.

We have designed the publication database in such a way that publications by LIV employees and associates are automatically synchronized from the connected PubMed database. Automated mapping links publications directly to the corresponding contact data records and includes them in the Solr search index.

With the integration of Apache Solr, we have deployed a powerful, proven search technology that allows users to search with lightning speed and precision. Through intelligent auto-completion and faceted search results, relevant content such as documents, news or events can be found effortlessly and efficiently. This ensures a particularly convenient user experience.

A convenient backend was created for the maintenance of contact data records, which simplifies the assignment to existing publication data with automated mapping.
The front end offers a list function with A-Z jump labels as well as personnel pages with CVs and automatically generated publication lists. This gives users quick access to comprehensive profile information.

From the outset, a special focus was placed on accessibility, with solutions implemented in line with the brand CI. The WCAG standards were set as a guideline, which were reviewed through regular internal audits to ensure that they are implemented sustainably and that the portal is perfectly accessible for people with disabilities in the long term.

The close collaboration resulted in a modern, barrier-free platform that provides the LIV with efficient data management and users with easy access to virological information. The automated publication and contact management and the powerful Solr search system improve workflows and create real added value for the LIV.
