LEONI AG approached us with the wish for a timely implementation of their newly formulated corporate identity on their website. Modularity, flexibility and international scalability combined with an optimised user experience were important to LEONI AG.

How did we achieve this?
Concept
The website design began with the adaptation of LEONI's corporate identity and design language for the web. Colours and fonts were applied digitally and flexible elements for content presentation were developed. These offer a wide range of editorial design options, as they can appear in different variations. Editors can set accents with background colours or gradients.
This modular concept makes it possible to combine all elements harmoniously and use them creatively.
Automated teasers
To optimise the user experience and editorial flexibility, we have developed a teaser system that facilitates access to content and increases the visibility of topics. Our article wall allows the manual or automated integration of teasers. Automation significantly reduces the manual workload of the editorial team. With various display and layout options, the article wall becomes a powerful content element that improves the discovery of content and makes editorial workflows more efficient.
Reduce to the max
The requirements of the individual countries were diverse: blog posts, experience reports, press releases and much more were needed. We solved this with a generic page type “Article”, which can be customised visually by the country administrators, but works together with all page functionalities (like “related articles”, teasers and much more) without further adjustments. This enabled us to significantly reduce the complexity of the system and increase acceptance by editors.
Multidomain
A core component of the TYPO3 solution was the multidomain structure. It enables LEONI to manage all international websites centrally, while local customisations can be implemented flexibly. Content is maintained centrally and, if necessary, adapted or translated for specific locations, which increases efficiency and ensures a consistent brand experience.
User permissions
A powerful user group concept was developed as part of the project. As a result, each user group can be given precisely the rights to pages and available content elements that they require.
A style guide, which shows the intended use of all content elements with the respective options, and a sandbox, in which editors can carry out experiments of all kinds, are only visible from the internal network.
Simplified hosting
Over the course of the project, we scrutinised and massively simplified the hosting concept of the previous website we had taken over. Thanks to high-performance caching, the right choice of infrastructure and intelligent solutions, we were able to return large parts of the hosting from the cloud to on-premise hosting and thus achieve significant cost savings with better performance.
Only the delivery of images and documents continues to take place via a Content Delivery Network (CDN) in order to achieve short transfer times worldwide. The CDN is completely transparent for editors and does not need to be taken into account any further.
Result
Together, we developed a modern, user-friendly web solution that implements the new LEONI corporate identity in a location-specific way and can be managed centrally. The switch from cloud to on-premise hosting reduced running costs and created a flexible system.
