API Integration (Application Programming Interfaces) means using technical interfaces between IT systems to enable data exchange. APIs act as bridges to access functions or data in other systems. This ranges from simple unidirectional systems (e.g., weather data) to complex bi- or multi-directional systems (e.g., Single Sign-On, HR portals).

Concept
Our experts conduct a thorough analysis of the relevant systems. We capture your requirements and develop tailor-made solutions, including acceptance criteria, within Requirements Engineering. We always take data protection and security aspects into account.
Documentation
A clear, concise, and well-formulated interface documentation is essential for us, especially when multiple systems collaborate. It ensures smooth integration, promotes the understanding of all involved parties, and serves as the crucial reference for future changes and the long-term functionality of the interface.
Implementation
Our developers implement the API according to the defined requirements. Implementation includes, in addition to technical development, the updating of documentation and an extensive testing phase (e.g., unit tests) to ensure reliability and performance before going live. Where necessary, individual monitoring provides additional functional security.

Application examples

In general, every integration of an external service is an API integration. The use of Matomo, Google Analytics or a consent management system, for example, is therefore strictly speaking already an API integration. However, we would like to show a few more complex and customised API scenarios here.
